We are pleased to announce the reopening of the Garden!
Visitors are welcome into the Garden again after an extended closure due to Hurricane Helene. The storm uprooted forty-five trees on the property, so downed trees and wood piles are still present as our staff and arborists continue with recovery efforts.

The leadership of Asheville Botanical Garden is very proud of our staff and volunteers. Despite the dangerous situation following the storm, we found a way in to see the state of the Garden and check in with each other.
We consider ourselves truly fortunate. We lost many well-loved large trees, some pathways, and some plants along the streams. We did not lose any major structures or bridges.
We can have the downed trees removed. We can fix the washed-out trails. We can replant the plants that were washed away. It is going to take time and cost money, but we know that the many people who love ABG will help with that.
What has been heaviest on our minds is how this event and future storm events will require a different approach. Climate Resilience and how we as a garden address that will determine its future. Future plans must integrate climate resilience into every decision if we want Asheville Botanical Garden to continue for another 65 years.
We will get through it. If there is an opportunity, it is that we get to rethink and dream a little about the spaces changed by Helene. We also have a responsibility to learn and teach people how a botanical garden can be forward thinking.
There is a lot of work to do, and together we can make that happen. We are grateful for each of you and hope that you are safe. Please take good care of yourselves and each other.
We are happy to welcome you back into Asheville Botanical Garden.
